Brass

Brasses are alloys of copper and zinc. The addition of other alloying elements specifically affects their mechanical properties. In general, brasses are characterised by good machinability, corrosion resistance and conductivity.

The profiles are usually produced by drawing with strict dimensional tolerances without machining allowance according to EN 12164. Another production method is extrusion for rods and tubes or centrifugal casting for bushings and flange bushings, always with machining allowances.

Brasses are available in a range of individual formulations designed for specific industrial applications.

CuZn39Pb3 brass (CW614N) is the most widely used brass alloy in industry. It is suitable for high-speed machining on automatic machines and for hot forming – forgings, mouldings. It is used, e.g., for fittings, nuts, bolts.   

CuZn37 brass (CW508L) is the most common brass for sheet and plate production due to its good formability. The sheets can be supplied coated with single or double-sided foil.  

CuZn37Mn3Al2PbSi brass (CW713R) has excellent corrosion and wear resistance under high load. It is used, e.g., for plain bearings, valve guides.

Round, square, flat and hexagonal CuZn39Pb3 brass bars are available in stock in a large size range; other brasses are available according to current foundry production.     

Standard production lengths are 3000 mm. It is also possible to deliver them in other lengths or in cross-sections without the requirement of a minimum quantity.
